Camps and classes for Arizona kids, teens, and adults that have a special focus on acting in the theatre. Many of these Arizona acting education programs also focus on singing, dancing and music. Most programs present a performance on the last day of classes. Most of the camps are day camps, but some are residential.

INTRO TO ACTING - Ages: 5-8 - This class is especially designed for youngsters who are excited to learn about the world around them. Acting teaches a child about empathy, discipline, and how to work in a group. Whether your child has an outgoing, or a more reserved personality, any child can benefit from early training in acting.

INTRO TO THEATRE (HOMESCHOOL) - Ages: 8+ - Although anyone is welcome to attend this class, we have designed it specifically to our homeschooled families. This class was easily created to drop in and out of based on a family's schedule. You may drop in to any of our classes for only $15. Acting teaches a child about empathy, discipline, and how to work in a group. Whether your child has an outgoing, or a more reserved personality, any child can benefit from early training in acting.

BEGINNING MUSICAL THEATRE - Ages: 8-13 - No experience necessary! In this class students will be introduced to a basic overview of all the elements found in musical theatre (acting, singing, and dancing).

ACTING 1 - Ages: 8+ - In this class students will gain a basic knowledge of theatre terminology through the study and practice of acting skills. Students will build self-confidence not only at their next audition, but throughout their daily life.

ACTING 2 - Ages: 12+ - Building on the skills students learned in Acting 1, this class will expand those skills by putting them into practice through monologue and scene work.

ADVANCED ACTING - Ages: 10+ with a year of experience - Students in this class must have at least one year of previous acting experience, either in class or on stage. In this class students will explore advanced acting technique and script analysis.

YOUNGER ENCORE - Ages: 6-11 - Be in a show with no audition required! This program is designed for kids to get the experience of being in a show without all the hassle and anxiety of auditions. Everyone who signs up gets a featured role. Students will learn about the rehearsal and production process at a slower pace while working with a director, choreographer and music director.

ENCORE - Ages: 12-18 - Be in a show with no audition required! This program is designed for kids to get the experience of being in a show without all the hassle and anxiety of auditions. Everyone who signs up gets a featured role. Students will learn about the rehearsal and production process while working with a director, choreographer and music director. A great way to build your resume and to get theatre experience.

IMPROV (OFF THE CUFF) - Ages: 10+ - Students in this class must have general understanding of theatre either through class or production. In this class students will learn and develop improvisational skills. Improv is an important skill for any actor at any level. Students will be selected from this class to perform for an audience throughout the semester with our improv performance troupe, "Off the Cuff".

Acting Foundations
Open enrollment for beginning actors and you can begin anytime. This ongoing class learning the fundamentals is a high energy, fun class that introduces the new actor to the craft through group exercises, games, simple scenes and basic monologue work. In our intro class, you’ll build a basic skill set in acting technique while discovering the creative voice that called you to acting in the first place. Every student new to acting can begin with this class and enrollment does not require an audit. We encourage growth in our program and students can move into Acting Technique upon approval from the instructor. The estimated dedicated time to complete Acting Foundations is eight weeks. Acting Technique
Students are invited into Acting Technique from our Foundations class. Experienced actors can start in this class after auditing our Foundations or Thursday night Technique class and receiving a recommendation for approval.

In this ongoing class, the actor moves beyond the basics. Acting Technique deep dives into the Stanslavski System and American acting approach through individual monologue and scene work. Actors will learn all the skills they need to excel in auditions and projects in film or on stage. Students can continue growth in this class to find their artistic voice and exercise discipline. Outside rehearsal is required for this class.

Classes are also available for the study of the The Meisner technique, and improvisation.

All of our camps are an amazing and intense week of producing, acting, dancing, playing improvisation games, and exploring the technical side of the theatre arts. This is one of the best educational theatre experiences available! Camps are arranged by age and grade level and all skill levels are welcome! All of our instructors are trained to teach in a way that makes the entire experience fun and educational in a safe and low-pressure environment. While students will be very busy learning lines, acting, dancing, building sets, and producing their play; there is plenty of time for ensemble building and peer connection.

YETI - YOUTH ENSEMBLE THEATRE INC
Y.E.T.i is a theatre production ensemble created to give high school students the opportunity to take part in the full frontier of theatre. Founded in January of 2015, Y.E.T.i members manage everything from production and marketing, to fundraising and outreach. With the assistance of the resident Childsplay staff, these teens organize and execute all of the tasks of a professional theatre.

Each season (twice a year), ensemble members will work together select a production and then spend the semester creating the production from the ground up. From designing, to marketing, and from performing to casting, this production will truly be in the hands of the teen ensemble.

CONSERVATORY
Conservatory is a progressive program of study for students who are interested in developing more advanced acting skills.

Students must be nominated from a current Childsplay Class to participate in Conservatory OR students must audition.

There are five levels of Conservatory. Each level is made up of two semesters of study in the Fall and Spring which may be taken in any order.

All Conservatory students participate in an evening Showcase at the end of each semester.

EVCT’s Acting Classes for Kids Teach the Following:

Ages 2-3 & 4-6: The Sparks are our youngest performers. They enjoy a weekly combo class that is full of singing, jazz, tap & acting. Ages 7-9: (No Cut Program) Our Dramatcs cast is the perfect place for beginner to intermediate performers. Dramatics students are cast into semi-annual Jr. musical productions. Ages 10-18: (Audition Only) Bravo is our audition only group for students ages 12-19 who are typically more experienced cast members, though beginners are always encouraged to audition! We study intermediate-advanced acting, dance & singing techniques. Our Bravo cast members love performing our full broadway productions. Students that are not ready for bravo will beoffered a challenging and rewarding experience within our theatricks group.

Ages Vary. Typical 18-55 dependant on Casting Needs: (Adult Audition Only) Encore is our adult group for those wanting to continue building their skills and perform in a high caliber musical. Our Music Theatre Minis and Prep programs will help bring your performers’ dreams to life. Students will gain important teamwork and listening skills as they channel their energetic potential in a productive, fun, learning environment. MTM is for ages 3-5. MTP is for ages 6-8.
