ARKANSAS ACTING CAMPS & CLASSES

Camps and classes for Arkansas kids, teens, and adults that have a special focus on acting in the theatre. Many of these Arkansas acting education programs also focus on singing, dancing and music. Most programs present a performance on the last day of classes. Most of the camps are day camps, but some are residential.

Bearden Productions Center for the Arts
North Little Rock, AR area

It is the mission of Bearden Productions Center for the Arts to make quality arts programs and services easily accessible for the children and families in our community.

BPCA has reached over 3,500 children and families in the state of Arkansas through its after-school classes, summer camps, and theatrical performances. Our acting classes, stage productions, dance classes, and kid's cooking classes give interested youth in North Little Rock, Little Rock, and surrounding areas an opportunity to experience the arts in a fun safe environment for little or no cost.

In our arts programming students will enjoy a six-week session that will help them reach new heights in their area of interest. Classes are tailored to cultivate our students into the artists they dream of becoming with individualized lessons, focusing on creativity and expression. Fall class offerings include musical theater, dance, and culinary arts.

Musical Theater explores the dance styles found on Broadway. We will examine a variety of styles from the classic to the contemporary, all while incorporating acting and dancing. Music will include age-appropriate selections from many of your favorite Broadway shows.

Musical Theater Minis - Grades 3rd - 5th: This is a high-energy, upbeat class, where your Musical Theater Enthusiast will learn introductory skills in the areas of acting, singing, and dancing. Students participate in exciting creative play activities as well as learn choreography and vocals to popular Broadway songs. The session ends with a special performance where your young star will shine on stage in front of family and friends.

Musical Theater Junior - Grades 6th - 8th: From "Highschool Musical" to "Hair Spray", Our Musical Theater Junior class explores the dance styles found in Broadway. Your rising star will will examine a variety of styles from the classic to the contemporary, all while incorporating acting, singing and dancing. Music will include age-appropriate selections from many of your favorite Broadway shows.

Musical Theater Intermediate - Grades 9th - 12th: This is a performance-based course in which students will enhance and apply the foundational skills gained in experience or Musical Theatre Junior course.

Arkansas Repertory Theatre
Little Rock, AR area

PRE-PRO COMPANY | 8th-12th Grades
Pre-Professional Company (Pre-Pro) is ACT II and the Arkansas Repertory Theatre’s audition-only performance program featuring the top high school-age singers, dancers, and actors in the area.

This small company of pre-professional performers will meet weekly for advanced training and rehearsals. Throughout the duration of the course, students will explore challenging musical theatre solo/ensemble repertoire, advanced scene work, the business of the industry, audition & college prep, TV/Film Acting, and host special masterclasses featuring guest artists from the entertainment industry.

Pre-Pro Company members will be cast in a summer mainstage production, specific show TBA. While encouraged, participation in the production is not required to participate in the course.

Theatre Squared

TheatreSquared is committed to being a leader in Arkansas for arts education, access to arts performances, and lifelong learning. T2's programs reach 25,000 students and teachers each year, as well as hundreds of adult lifelong learners.

YOUTH CLASSES - GRADES 3 - 12: T2’s classes specialize in building your creativity, confidence and collaboration through the arts for all experience levels. We are committed to training artists of tomorrow through professional classes that advance theatrical craft. Students gain experience working with other student actors, and the professional directors, actors and artists who teach each class. Classes will end with a showcase of work on the last day. All classes are held at TheatreSquared, 477 W Spring Street. 10 week classes for students of all abilities.

ARKANSAS PLAYWRIGHTS WORKSHOP: For over a decade, the Arkansas Playwrights Workshop has been dedicated to nurturing new plays and playwrights, helping to foster new works for the American stage while providing a safe place for writers to work on their craft through regular workshop sessions and public readings. Sessions are free and open to beginning and advanced playwrights and screenwriters. Writers are encouraged to bring 10-15 pages of dialogue, which are read cold by actors, then commented upon by the group under the leadership of an experienced playwright.

Over the years, participants have ranged from absolute beginners to professionally produced dramatists; APW playwrights have won numerous awards and had their work produced at theatres around the country.

The group currently meets at 6:30 p.m. once a month on Tuesdays in the Community Room at the TheatreSquared. Actors and directors are always welcome, and walk-ins are encouraged.

Intro to Acting for Adults. Ages 18 & Up

An Adult Introductory course to acting for the stage and screen. For any adult wishing to participate in the local, vibrant, and growing theatre and film industries or wishing to gain a greater understanding and appreciation for the craft of acting.

In this six week course participants will learn scene study, script analysis, monologuing, cold reading, as well as Meisner and Stanislavski Techniques.

Located in the heart of North Little Rock’s Argenta Arts District, the Argenta Community Theater serves as a centerpiece of a vibrant artistic community. From crowd-pleasing musicals to vibrant new works to theatrical classics, there is truly something for everyone to love on the ACT stage.

But, there is so much more to this state of the art facility than just our top-notch plays and musicals! Argenta also coordinates educational programs for all ages.

ACT conducts a robust education outreach program, with our ACTing Up summer camp being the flagship. Beginning in 2014, students from across Central Arkansas have gathered for a two-week summer intensive in acting, music, dance and film at our signature educational program.

Over the years our educational program has expanded to include the PACT scholarship program in conjunction with University of Arkansas Pulaski Technical College, the Second ACT program for adult theatrical education, and our daytime student Lunch & Learn performances for area students.

Trike Theatre

Trike Academy hosts year-round learning fun for ages 4-18. Join our theatre classes in the Fall and Spring, plus performance and adventure camps in the Summer — no experience needed for either.

Trike Academy theatre classes are like fun camps — just weekly hour-long indoor camps! And we’ve seen that having fun doing theatre is the best way to learn. Ever!

CREATIVE PLAYERS AGES 4-5: Theatre class for our youngest performers! Exploring characters through movement and play, this class introduces young artists to theatre. Activities include storytelling, games, crafts, and Trike’s end-of-semester “show and share” for families.

STORYTELLERS AGES 6-8: Take Creative Players and add storytelling with scripts and voice work. Exploring characters through creative play and movement, this class introduces students to theatre. Activities include storytelling, games, crafts, and Trike’s family “show and share” finale.

PRODUCTION CLASS AGES 8-18: 12-week class. Production classes give students starting in 3rd-12th grade the opportunity to rehearse and perform a 10 minute play. Required experience level varies. Read each description to learn more about production classes.

Trike Academy theatre camps are like extended theatre classes but with whole weeks of fun. Trike’s camps fill up faster than a kid’s summer goes by.

ADVANCED PRODUCTION: This class will offer students who have previously worked with Trike through Academy or Production the opportunity to learn from professional theatre artists the skills it takes to produce a 10-minute-play festival (in the Fall) and a One-Act play festival (in the Spring).
