IDAHO ACTING CAMPS & CLASSES

Camps and classes for Idaho kids, teens, and adults that have a special focus on acting in the theatre. Many of these Idaho acting education programs also focus on singing, dancing and music. Most programs present a performance on the last day of classes. Most of the camps are day camps, but some are residential.

Performing Arts Summer Camp
Educational Theatre of Idaho is currently one of the most affordable places to send your child/children to a performing arts overnight camp this summer! However, we don’t want the price of tuition to be the reason a family doesn’t participate. Tuition assistance is available upon request.

We are dedicated to keeping registration rates reasonable. Educational Theatre of Idaho supports a Scholarship Fund and Business Community Sponsorships which are needed to keep a performing arts camp costs affordable and high quality. A limited number of need-based partial scholarships are available for all sessions.

We offer theater and musical theater training programs for youth.
All our programs are facilitated by professional Performing Arts educators.
All programs are structured to teach performance skills, build confidence, provide structured socialization, teach our core values, and are A LOT of fun!
Most education programs are set at 12 students to maximize student engagement and learning outcomes.

Most programs conclude with either a showcase performance, open house, or video for sharing. Class minimums are 6 students. Class maximums are currently set to 10 students. Classes are subject to cancellation if minimums are not met.

The Academy for Contemporary Theater is BCT’s gold-standard Theater Lab. Our lab programs are so successful and popular that we expanded our offerings to both younger and older creatives! With A.C.T. at BCT, we’ve built a ladder for ages 6 to 99+ so artists of all ages can find classes at various skill levels to tell their stories. Come A.C.T. at BCT!

Unlike camps, our education classes are skill-building, confidence-boosting, and friendship-making courses taught by theater professionals. And they are really fun!

BCT Theater Lab, for youth 12-18 years old, is dedicated to the proposition that students are capable of more than we expect. They have a story to tell, and it’s important to listen. Students create brand new plays from scratch and then perform them on our professional stage with all the bells and whistles in this ten-week class. It’s unlike anything else in the valley.

The Academy For Contemporary Theater at BCT is becoming the premiere acting institution for professional actors and new artists in the Treasure Valley. Our adult program includes to year round classes for adult actors of all levels, being taught by the valley’s most talented professional artists.

Palace Theatre Summer Camps

Palace Theatre Camp
Ages 8-18 : They will be broken up by age in classes

This one-week camp is a high energy- fast paced week filled with all things theatre. It will be a fun-filled week of activities and classes, such as set design, dance, improv, costuming, acting, and more! The campers will spend time building props, taking dance classes, learning sewing skills, and much more. Spend time with us learning and building your craft! This camp does not put together a musical, they will spend more time learning in-depth and hands-on theatre skills to improve any young artist. This camp will feel similar to a sleep-away camp and give the camper an opportunity to meet new friends who love theatre.

Camp will end with a live on-stage recital showing off the skills the campers learned throughout the week. Each camper will receive a camp t-shirt and free admission to the performance for family members. Campers will field trip to see a movie + popcorn and drink as a fun activity and way to relax and bond before their performance.

Shining Stars Camp
This camp was made specifically for our young artists with special needs. We will be pairing them up with a buddy mentor who will provide support and assistance when needed throughout the week. This camp will get them dancing, singing, and performing at the level they feel comfortable with. Each camper will receive a camp t-shirt and two complimentary tickets to their performance. We can't wait to see these stars shine!

ACTING OUT! YOUTH COMPANY
Acting Out is an educational opportunity for local children from ages eight to seventeen to experience and learn the theatrical arts in a safe environment. We offer a summer program and an after-school program.

Acting Out teaches respect, teamwork, and self-expression through theatre games and production rehearsal. Together, the students must complete specific curriculum items and work toward producing a performance at the conclusion of each Quarter. We offer two six-week classes throughout the school year beginning in the Fall.

INTRO TO PROFESSIONAL MUSICAL THEATRE
AGES 8 to 13

Description:
A musical theatre class that incorporates valuable lessons such as teamwork, commitment, conquering fear, being prepared, theatre etiquette, confidence, and an introduction to the professional world of musical theatre. This class aims to give students an arts foundation that can be applied to further training and be an enrichment tool to work alongside their educational journey.

Prerequisite:
None. This class is required for all students ages 8-13 who are new to the Musical Theatre Training Institute (or have not been enrolled with MTTI for 2 or more consecutive sessions). Minimum class size 10.

ACTING FOR MUSICAL THEATRE
AGES 14 to ADULT

Description:
This foundation level acting class gives performers the tools to build sensory and imagination technique while training behavioral reflexes towards truth in imaginary circumstances. Actors will gain knowledge and tools that will aid in developing their personal process and begin to work towards scripted text.

Prerequisite:
None. This is a pre-requisite class required for all Professional Musical Theatre Certification tracts. This class counts towards MTTI's Professional Musical Theatre Certificate. Minimum class size 10.

VOICE FOR MUSICAL THEATRE
AGES 14 to ADULT

Description:

This foundation level voice class will focus on building technique, developing sound, vocal health, effective practice routines, and an introduction to musical elements of harmony, ensemble, and solo performance. Students will learn to care for their voice and improve their technique through a series of exercises, theory, and practice.

Prerequisite:
None. This is a pre-requisite class required for all Professional Musical Theatre Certification tracts. This class counts towards MTTI's Professional Musical Theatre Certificate. Minimum class size 10

Two Year Professional Musical Theatre Certification

The Musical Theatre Training Institute at Coeur d'Alene Summer Theatre is excited to offer a two-year professional musical theatre certificate program for ages 14 to adult. The certification program provides a solid, high-level training for those seeking a career in the world of professional musical theatre.

Our professional musical theatre certificate program starts with three foundational classes and an auditions class. All three foundational classes are required in order to continue in the certification program. Each foundational class is a prerequisite for future advanced classes.

Students who are seeking certification can do so in two, three or four years. Choosing to take classes outside of the certification structure still requires completion of the three foundational classes to move on to advanced level classes. Certification also requires additional credits in Special Offerings, Performances, Tech work and more.
