Civic Theatre Summer Camps
Carmel, IN area
Education has been integral to the Theatre’s operations since its inception, and Jr. Civic has offered year-round, theatre-based performing arts classes since 1941. Students are introduced to a multidisciplinary curriculum to connect theatre proficiencies with life skills that promote success, such as discipline, self-confidence, commitment, and team work.
Students are given opportunities to express their own creativity in a comfortable and educational environment. Strong emphasis on developing the actor’s tools (voice, body, mind) can be found in all levels of instruction and serves to not only condition the abstract and emotional elements of the art form, but the technical and more concrete skills necessary to perform well.

Our driven inspiration to improve the minority representation in the theater industry is our heightened perspective in which we foster.
To provide equitable distribution of on-stage opportunities and employment resources for black theatre professionals and students. Our programming to support and mentor those who have a passion for performance and operations in fine arts is our appreciation for Black culture within our communities through our arts education programs, musicals and stage plays.
The workshops are incredibly informative and interactive. Participants get a full understanding of how the theatrical industry operates. Each workshop includes important skill sets of how acting, dancing and music education are relevant in performing.
Our Summer Youth Theatre Camp is for everyone who wants to attend. Our mission and goals are to make arts programs accessible for the under-served population with little to access to arts programs. A lot of our students are from one parent households and transportation is not easy during the week, and weekends are better for these families to be able to attend.
