Seedling Theatre Company
Henderson, NV area

All of the programs and classes at Seedling Theatre Company are designed with the personal growth of each child in mind. Building confidence in front of an audience, mastering skills in communication, and realizing how their talents can lift and inspire others are all goals we set for our students.

Whether your child is just starting to break out of their shell or headed for Broadway tomorrow, we want to provide as many challenges and opportunities for advancement as possible. Additionally, we recognize the importance of employing teachers who not only know their craft, but also have a talent and a love for working with children.

Musical Theatre
The heart of our studio is our musical theatre program. If your child has Broadway on the brain and wants to do it all-- singing, dancing, drama--then our Musical Theatre classes are just the ticket.  Our school-year semester MT classes (Fall and Spring) produce Youth Editions of Broadway shows, edited for content, length, and vocal performance levels. Summer Musicals may include full Broadway productions with audition-only casts. No experience is necessary and vocals and choreography for each class are tailored to age and skill levels. Past musicals at Seedling have included Peter Pan, Into the Woods, The Little Mermaid, Seussical, The Lion King, Shrek, Matilda, Little Women, and many more.

Acting
For those wishing to focus more on the dramatic facet of their performance skill set, our straight acting classes expand young performers' knowledge of stagecraft and provide opportunities for practical application through games and activities in addition to weekly rehearsals for that semester's chosen play or short scene collection.  Courses are offered for Jrs. (ages 7-10) and Teens (ages 11-18) and include  exploration of basic stage acting skills, theatre terminology & etiquette, vocal inflection and projection, movement and facial expression, incorporating a variety of techniques and acting methods. But don't let all the theatre jargon fool you--these are super fun classes :)

Voice Performance
Seedling consistently draws and develops incredibly talented youth vocalists from around the Vegas valley, thanks in most part to our amazing singing coach, Britni Favero. Her dedication to continual education in her field and a love for teaching has inspired vocalists across the country through her private lessons at Seedling and online. Group vocal performance classes and camps are also available year-round for both beginners and advanced students, with an emphasis on solo performance. Technical skills are taught alongside stage presence to create unforgettable recitals and personal improvement in Musical Theatre class performances. Confidence is built by students performing weekly in class for their peers who provide positive feedback and support.

Summer Camps
It is not unusual to hear kids declare their desire to spend the whole summer at Seedling. During the months of June and July, there is a whole lot of mess, noise, music, creativity, and laughter going on at Seedling as we take advantage of an all-day theater experience. Unique week-long camps are designed to fit into your busy summer travel and activities and have included full-length musicals, plays, costume and set design, movie making, camps for Sprouts ages 4-6, Shakespeare, teen game nights. and much more. Every summer provides new opportunities to draw in the community with lots of inexpensive entertainment each weekend as our campers pump out shows that are always open to the public.

TEEN ACTING FOR TV & FILM FOR 13-17 years
This class is for anyone from newbie to experienced. Covering everything from improv, camera work, audition technique, self-tapes, cold-reading, scene study, script analysis and industry tips. The goal of each class is to uncover the student's unique truth. Each student will hone their strengths and grow in their weakness as they curate their own actor tool box. No class is the same but every student will walk away learning something.

ON CAMERA AND MORE FOR 14 & UP

This class will include more On Camera work than the Thursday class.

SCENE STUDY AGE: 16 & UP
You will learn the actual process of scene study, crafting the moments, emotions, intentions, and desires of the character, this is the skill set sought after by directors on a set. Knowing to raise the stakes and not play the end of the scene are techniques that develop with time and practice and mark the differences between actors.

In the true style of Milton Katseles, Founder of the Beverly Hills Playhouse, and Martin Landau via the current teachings of Joe Palese of The Actor Space, this scene study technique is very accessible to even the novice actor as long as the passion and the desire to learn are there.

To the actor, the process is valuable and infinitely rewarding for their art. To the Director, the techniques create an actor who is confident, competent and can be directed (able to make the adjustments on set needed between takes). To the Casting Director the talent becomes marketable as one who is prepared and professional to be put before Producers. To the Producer, the trained talent becomes a resource that can be called upon when such character(s) appear in a script.

PRETEEN AGE 8-13 For TV & FILM

Scene work, cold reading and auditioning skills will be introduced, breaking down the text and solving the who, what, when, where and whys of each character. We bring in what came before and where are we going? Actors will learn to be brilliant detectives in uncovering in the text the absolute truth of the material thru established problem solving techniques. We are building upon solid habits that the actor can bring to any audition room, stage or set. The student learns that the actor must become one with the character, living truthfully in the moment and the actor/technician overseeing, timing, stage direction, blocking and camera work, props and any surprises that may arise with live TV or stage productions.
