Lumi School of Musical Theatre
Charlotte, NC area

Lumi School of Musical Theatre is a performing arts studio, educating children and young adults in the performing arts industry. We will offer a variety of classes for ages 3 and up in dance, vocal, musical theatre, acting and theatrical productions.

Our mission is to provide a safe environment to nurture and teach in all aspects of the theatre on stage and off. Our hope is to teach and cultivate the future generation of theatre goers and performers.

ACTING
Acting is the art of storytelling. The ability to take direction, to work as a team, to act individually, to learn lines/directions and to have confidence in being in front of an audience will be taught. Improvisation/ad-libbing, imaginary play and creative storytelling will be experienced.

Students are immersed in scene work, original storytelling, and character creation to unlock The Actors Toolbox. Working together as an ensemble as well as receiving one-on-one instruction, this class will mold the voice, body and imagination so students emerge as well-rounded actors.

MUSICAL THEATRE
These classes will be focused toward younger students or introduction classes in acting, singing and dancing. Learning acting through scene work, improv and imaginary play. Vocal warm ups, audition prep, and group theatre numbers. Learning broadway dance combinations, ballet, tap and jazz technique and movement.

VOICE
Key elements of singing include; breathing, phonation, resonation and articulation. Songs in a musical are what brings the storytelling to life at moments when emotions are heightened and can no longer be expressed in only words. Musical theatre singers are widely trained and versatile singers, trained in vocal styles from rock (RENT), contemporary (Dear Evan Hansen) to classical (Phantom of the Opera).

DANCE
Theatre dance is learning how movement of the body can express feelings, emotions and story telling. Having proper technique rooted in ballet, jazz, tap and hip hop creates the musical theatre style.
